A Critical Moment in Iran

We are writing to share a brief but deeply important update on the unfolding events in Iran—events we believe carry profound spiritual and historical significance for our ministry, our partners, and especially for all who have been praying for transformation in Iran.

Over the past 24 hours, the United States and Israel have carried out coordinated air operations against the Islamic Regime of Iran, targeting key regime leaders and military infrastructure. Reports indicate that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been killed during these strikes.

In response, the Islamic Regime has launched missile and drone attacks against U.S. and Israeli forces and allied bases across the Middle East— a grave mistake which guarantees escalation, making the situation far worse for them. We believe their wisdom has been turned to foolishness.

Once again, the Iranian people are in the streets. Videos and eyewitness accounts from Tehran and other cities show crowds cheering, celebrating, and even dancing following the news of Khamenei’s death.

These public responses reflect the cries of the people that have been building for years. The regime’s response to the recent anti-government protests has been ruthless: violence, internet blackouts, mass arrests, executions, and brutal crackdowns. But instead of silencing them, it has only deepened the anger of the Iranian people toward this regime.

This is not simply another “conflict” or “another war”. President Trump and Israel have responded to the cry of millions of Iranians who have longed for intervention against the Islamic Regime. We see this as a mission of liberation.

This moment has opened a window for the Iranian people to reclaim their nation and remove the oppressive terrorist regime that has occupied that beautiful land since 1979.

The Prophetic Context: Jeremiah and Elam

In Jeremiah 49:35–39, the prophet speaks of God’s judgment against Elam. Elam is linked in Scripture to a region that overlaps with parts of modern-day Iran.

The Lord declares:

“Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘Behold, I will break the bow of Elam,
The foremost of their might.
Against Elam, I will bring the four winds
From the four quarters of heaven,
And scatter them toward all those winds;
There shall be no nations where the outcasts of Elam will not go.

For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies
And before those who seek their life.
I will bring disaster upon them,
My fierce anger,’ says the Lord;

‘And I will send the sword after them
Until I have consumed them.
I will set My throne in Elam,
And will destroy from there the king and the princes,’ says the Lord.

‘But it shall come to pass in the latter days:
I will bring back the captives of Elam,’ says the Lord.”

(Jeremiah 49:35–39, NKJV)

What is redeeming in this passage is that judgment is not the end of the story. God speaks of shaking, scattering, and overthrowing rulers—but He also speaks of restoration, setting His throne in Elam, and bringing back the captives… Hallelujah!

The Timing and the Significance of Purim

It is remarkable that all of this is unfolding as we approach Purim on March 2—the Jewish feast commemorating the deliverance of the Jewish people from a genocidal plot in the Persian Empire (Esther 9:1). Long ago, Persia became the setting where God overturned the plans of the wicked and preserved His people. Now, centuries later, we are witnessing what may be another historic turning point involving Iran and Israel.

In a striking reversal, it now appears that Israel is helping repay a historic debt to the Persian people by standing against a modern Haman—the Supreme Leader and the Islamic regime that has held Persians hostage for 47 years.

And we cannot help but notice the weight of this moment: the 47th president of America is going to help to free Iranians from 47 years of oppression.

History is in the making. And when this regime completely falls, we may need a million Bibles.

The doors that may open in the days ahead could be unlike anything we have seen in our lifetime. God is giving Iran a window of freedom; the need for Bibles, discipleship, and Gospel workers will be massive.
