Phones are Tools to Spread the Gospel
Throughout history, whenever truth has been chained by religion or corrupted by human control, God has intervened to set it free. He has always raised up a voice, a movement, or even a machine to tear the veil and release His Word.
In the fifteenth century, the Church was shrouded in religious control. The Scriptures were locked away in Latin (the Vulgate), known only to the clergy, while the people walked in spiritual ignorance. In 1440, Johannes Gutenberg’s printing press became Heaven’s instrument to unleash the written Word. Reformers like John Wycliffe, Martin Luther, and William Tyndale risked their lives to translate the Bible into the languages of the people.
For the first time, common men could read the truth for themselves. The Word of God escaped the walls of religion and ignited the fires of the Reformation. Christendom rediscovered the living Christ, not through ritual or priesthood, but through the living Word.
Now, after fourteen centuries of religious control, the Islamic world is experiencing an unprecedented awakening. For generations, Muslim clerics acted as the exclusive interpreters of faith.
The Qur’an remained bound to classical Arabic, which most Muslims could recite but not understand. Religious education focused on memorization, not comprehension. This created a system of dependency-Muslims relying on imams to tell them what to think, what to believe, and what to fear.
Muslims Discovering the Truth of the Gospel
Now that system – the monopoly – is breaking down. The internet and smartphones have become the modern equivalent of the printing press. Information that was once censored or forbidden is now only a click away. Translations of the Qur’an, Hadith, the biography of Muhammad, and early Islamic commentaries are available in almost every major language. Muslims are researching their own faith, comparing sources, and finding contradictions that were never explained to them before.
This is not a small cultural shift – it is a civilizational tremor. For the first time in history, Muslims can bypass the control of their clerics. They are hearing alternative voices, reading original texts, and seeing how Islam’s historical record often contradicts what they were taught in the mosque. What began as curiosity is turning into disillusionment, and disillusionment is leading to departure. Large numbers of Muslims, especially the youth, are quietly leaving Islam. Online forums, YouTube channels, and social media groups are filled with ex-Muslims sharing their discoveries and asking spiritual questions once considered unthinkable. This is Islam’s version of the Enlightenment – a backlash against centuries of suppression.
God is Using Technology to Reach People
The same God who once used a printing press to bring the written Word to Europe is now using the digital world to reveal the truth to the Islamic world. Behind the flow of data and algorithms, a divine hand is at work-orchestrating an exodus from deception into truth.
Islam’s control over its people is breaking, and the Gospel is advancing faster than ever among Muslims. From Iran to Indonesia, from Turkey to North Africa, the underground church is growing.
Media is reaching places where missionaries cannot go. Fourteen centuries of control is collapsing in a single generation. What took centuries of suppression is now unraveling in a decade of exposure.
History is repeating itself-but with a divine twist. The Reformation liberated the Bible from religious institutions; the digital awakening is liberating Muslims from religious deception. Both revolutions expose falsehood, both elevate truth, and both lead to the same Person-Jesus Christ, the true Light of the world. The first Enlightenment transformed the West. The second is transforming the Muslim nations. And both proclaim one unchanging reality:
“You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” – John 8:32
Yes, the internet and phones are sparking questions in the hearts of Muslims. As seekers discover problems in Islam online, they become disillusioned, but we don’t leave them there. We offer the answer: Jesus and His Word. We help them go from a private DM to a Bible in hand, from a screen to a small group and into real discipleship and underground fellowship.
